Psychological Testing Fredericksburg
Looking for a psychological evaluation in Fredericksburg? We offer testing for autism, ADD/ADHD, and learning disabilities in reading, writing, and math (i.e. dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia). Now, the not-so-great news is this: we don’t have an office in Fredericksburg. But, the sort-of-great news is this: we’re close by. We have offices in Charlottesville, Richmond, and Harrisonburg, and the process is probably more convenient than you’d think.
Because the fact is that nearly 20% of our clients are from Fredericksburg City, Spotsylvania County and Stafford County. Since evaluations are typically three or four meetings, at least two of these can be done remotely. That means only one or two drives for you. Guess we can thank COVID for a few things, right?

So, what is an evaluation? Quite simply, it’s listening to our clients and their story, helping them articulate goals, and take tangible steps forward. We work with a wide range of clients: kids, teens, and adults, and our clients come to us with any number of different questions. Maybe they want to understand why their elementary school student gets so frustrated when they try to read. Maybe a college student is wondering why social relationships are so hard or why they can’t keep up with their workload no matter how hard they try. Sometimes, it’s just because an organization has told you that you need updated testing for accommodations. Whatever your reason, we want to listen to your story and help you navigate the next steps.
Why choose a school psychologist like us?
As school psychologists, we specialize in helping students and families not only understand why they may be struggling but also helping them to create a comprehensive plan for success moving forward. In the field of psychological assessment, the unfortunate truth is that many psychologists write reports that are difficult to understand with recommendations that aren’t specific, reasonable, or even appropriate in the school setting. Our goal is simple: to truly understand our client regardless of a diagnosis, and to equip them with the understanding and knowledge they need to move forward within the necessary systems, whether that’s the school system, the medical system, or even the workplace. Former client & mom
I wanted to share how much of a positive impact this has made on our family. Our child is thriving with enthusiasm and a new found joy for learning. We reached out for help because we needed guidance on how to help our child overcome a mysterious overwhelming wall stopping the learning process. The wall caused avoidance, shutting down, embarrassment even tears. Education should be joyful. We are parents, not professionals educators. If we had to demolish an actual wall, we would need a professional. Wesley Shelley & his colleague Anna analyzed, removed and created a beautiful path were there once was a wall.

Costs and insurance for psychological testing Fredericksburg
Psychological evaluations are investments. Some are literally eight or more hours of face-to-face time. Add to that interviews with parents, teachers, wading through all the data, writing the report, and taking time to review results with you—it’s a lot. I’m sure that you’d be able to find a practice that offers evaluations for less money. I’m also sure that you’d be able to find a practice charging more. One of our goals is to provide excellent service while keeping our fees reasonable–like you, we have bills to pay and families to support.
We are an out-of-network provider, so we do not accept insurance. Our services are considered self-pay. With this said, we do try to be flexible and offer payment plans. Plus, we gladly accept HSA and FSA cards. For more specific details, check out our fees page.
